It's been one very long weekend. Our internet went down at home on Saturday, talk about drama! Mind you though, it prompted me to get out of the house and do some shopping, head to the beach (the weather was superb!) and check out some of Sydney's local talent. Needless to say I wish I had my camera at the beach...

Today is the anniversary of the ANZAC (Australian, New Zealand Army Corps) landing at Gallipoli at the start of WW1. Landing just before dawn the Anzacs (mostly volunteers) found themselves off course, facing steep cliffs and under attack from a very strong and well prepared Turkish resistance. It was our first major military action as part of the War and over 2000 lives were lost on the first day.
Traditionally Australian's all over the world attend solemn pre-dawn services on Anzac Day to honour not only those who were killed at Gallipoli, but in fact all men and women who have lost their lives in wars around the world.
They shall grow not old,
As we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun,
And in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest we Forget.
